The Pacific Coast Region of APPA is back for a memorable Conference in sunny San Diego, September 24-26, at the Mission Bay Resort. With the theme Navigating the Future: Charting a New Course, this transformational educational event will bring together professionals and industry experts to share knowledge, ideas, best practices and more.
Our conference location is the gorgeous San Diego Mission Bay Resort located on Mission Bay. This vibrant venue is newly remodeled, offers poolside relaxation, and is within walking distance to waterfront dining, endless outdoor activities, the historic Belmont Park, and many more San Diego attractions! Conveniently, the San Diego International Airport is six miles away with multiple modes of transportation.
We are Charting a New Course through these three professional development tracks:
Leadership: In this post-COVID world, strong leadership skills are essential. We are focusing on visibility, presence, courage, strategic management, team dynamics, staff management, emotional intelligence, change management, communication, professionalism, and collaboration. Breakout sessions will showcase success stories and innovative approaches to these important topics.
Capacity: We believe in the power of diversity and inclusion to strengthen our organizations and communities. Topics for this year's conference include telecommuting and its impact on front-line staff, restroom parity, cultural competence (shifting to values), and Women in Facilities. Breakout sessions will highlight the programs and practices that have worked for you, and how you have continued to develop equitable and inclusive practices to support your members and institutions.
Technology: The pandemic forced many of us to find new and innovative ways to deliver services and support to our organizations. Breakout sessions will focus on the technologies you used, the tools you developed, and the lessons you learned. Topics include post-COVID lessons, funding sources, ASHRAE, technology, tools, space reuse, who is MERV, and preparing for the next disruption.
